About the course

Using a collection of manuscript fragments belonging to Ewan’s studio participants will analyse and write several blackletter hands, Textura and Rotunda. This is a rare opportunity to learn from original material and develop your own response to it. There will also be a daily in-person talk from type designer and historian Riccardo Olocco who will show how this calligraphy moved into type.

Ewan and Riccardo have decided to collaborate on a series of workshops that blend insights from both calligraphy and type and that share the latest results of their research.
